Thomas Street Open Garden Day is All Go!

Well we went outside and did some gardening today and so have only just finished a flier about our open day on Sunday. It's shaping up to be a great day with many people having let us know they'll be coming along - (JJJ included!). We hope you can make it and look forward to meeting you if so. If you can print and post a few copies about the place that'd be awesome - download our two new flyers here and here but note that what is written below is the latest word on what events are happening.

THOMAS STREET OPEN GARDEN DAY AND FUNDRAISER

Come and Celebrate Suburban Food Gardening!

After two years developing an extensive edible garden our landlords have given us 14 days to either remove the garden or pay them $2,100. As part of trying to turn this into a positive thing, we want to celebrate our time here and all the people who have been involved while raising public awareness about growing your own food where you live. So this Sunday May 7 at midday we are opening our garden up to the world - you are invited to a huge afternoon including:

• Garden tours
• Sustainable living workshops
• Food stalls (including special treats from South America)
• An auction of wonderful wares and odd items
• Poetry reading by Melbourne poet Thomas Joyce
• Displays including "The Lowdown on Lawn and the Upside of Edible Gardens"
• Talk by Energy Bulletin's Adam Fenderson about Peak Oil
• Talk on “The Living Soil: Making the Invisible Visible” by Megan Floris
• Plants, seeds, and garden goodies for sale (donations of goods welcome)
• PermaSalsa – where permaculture gardening meets salsa dancing!

Where: 16 Thomas Street, Clayton, South Eastern Melbourne
When: Sunday May 7, 12 noon – 5pm
Entry: with (optional) donation.
Phone: 03 9029 2550
Email: situation@thomasstreet.info
